Ofqual and SQA regulated qualifications in Health & Safety, Fire Safety, Manual Handling and Mental Health First Aid

Quality Leisure Management Ltd (QLM) are able to deliver a range of health and safety, fires safety and manual handling courses. Qualifications are regulated in the UK and awarded by First Aid Awards (FAA). FAA are an Awarding Organisation regulated by Ofqual and SQA Accreditation. Qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) and the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF).

Health & Safety in the Workplace – FAA Level 1 Award (Level 4 in Scotland) – 1/2-day

This is an introduction to health and safety in the workplace and will benefit all employees, particularly those who may be accepting a health and safety role, such as a safety representative within their organisation. Successful candidates will be awarded a national Level 2 (Level 5 in Scotland) qualification which will provide an ideal platform to higher level training or career development.

Health & Safety in the Workplace – FAA Level 2 Award (Level 5 in Scotland) – 1 day

This is an introduction to health and safety in the workplace and will benefit all employees, particularly those who may be accepting a health and safety role, such as a safety representative within their organisation. Successful candidates will be awarded a national Level 2 (Level 5 in Scotland) qualification which will provide an ideal platform to higher level training or career development.

First Aid for Mental Health – FAA Level 2 Award (Level 5 Scotland) – 1 day

This course is suitable for everyone within a workplace as it provides learners with the knowledge to identify suspected mental health conditions as well as the skills to start a conversation and be able to signpost a person towards professional help.

The course covers the content of the Level 1 course given above, but also expands on the effects of drugs and alcohol, incorporates the First Aid for Mental Health Action Plan and covers ways in which a positive mental health culture can be supported within a workplace.

Fire Safety Awareness – FAA Level 1 (Level 4 Scotland) – 1/2 day

This course is designed for all employees as an introduction to basic fire safety awareness and is an excellent ingredient in the induction programme of new employees. The qualification also provides a foundation to those employees who want to develop their fire safety awareness.

The effects of fire are potentially devastating in the workplace in terms of lives lost, injuries, damage to property and the environment, and to business continuity. It is believed that most fires are preventable. The importance of fire safety in the workplace is underpinned by health and safety legislation that places a duty on employers to establish policies and procedures and ensure their employees receive appropriate training.

Fire Safety – FAA Level 2 (Level 5 Scotland) – 1 day

This course is designed for employees to develop their basic fire safety awareness in order to assist their employer by undertaking more specific fire safety roles in the workplace to manage fire risk (e.g. as fire wardens/marshals/stewards etc.) Successful candidates will be awarded a national level 2 qualification (Level 5 in Scotland).

Manual Handling – Principles and Practice – FAA Level 2 (Level 5 Scotland) – 1 day

This course provides an ideal approach to safer and more effective manual handling, not only meeting HSE recommendations, but also promoting good and safe practices in any situation.

We are all exposed at times to some form of manual handling such as lifting, carrying, pulling and pushing actions that can be compounded by simultaneous movements such as climbing or pivoting. Personal injuries resulting from incorrect manual handling in the workplace accounts for over one million working days lost per year, as well as the pain and suffering experienced by the casualties. Correct manual handling techniques can make a huge difference.

Supervision First Aid for Mental Health – FAA Level 3 Award (Level 6 Scotland) – 2 days

This 2-Day course goes into detail on a wide range of mental health conditions and the support and help provided by healthcare professionals. It covers the content of both the Level 1 and Level 2 qualifications but is aimed at Trainer/ Assessors and/or supervisor level within the workplace.
