Course Introduction
This Level 3 Health and Safety course has been developed to provide learners with the knowledge and skills essential for effectively managing health and safety within various workplace settings. Participants will gain a thorough understanding of key health and safety principles, legal responsibilities and best practices for risk management
Ensuring health and safety in the workplace is vital for all businesses. It safeguards employees and the public while also reducing the risk of costly legal issues and reputational damage in the event of incidents.
The FAA Level 3 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace (RQF) offers learners a thorough understanding of health and safety principles and outlines effective management strategies. This course is primarily aimed at supervisors, managers and individuals preparing to take on health and safety roles within the workplace.
Course Aims
On successful completion of the training, delegates will be able to:
- Understand the requirements for health, safety and welfare in the workplace
- Understand the benefits of using a safety management system
- Understand the principles of risk assessment
- Understand the risks and control methods for common workplace hazards
- Understand how to manage the effects of accidents and incidents
The training is delivered by experienced, qualified and approved leisure health and safety consultants who provide such a service with leisure industry professional qualifications as members or fellows of the Charter Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (MCIMSPA or FCIMSPA respectively) and a minimum of Certified membership of IOSH (CertIOSH) who are working towards chartered membership of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (CMIOSH). CMIOSH team members are listed on the Occupational Safety and Health Consultants Register (OSHCR).

Certification
This is a three-day classroom based course, with a minimum total of 18 hours learning. Dependent on the learner’s experience, there may well be some pre-course or post-course reading
Assessment is on-going by the instructor, culminating in a written question paper. There is no grading of the assessment, learners pass or are referred.
The qualification does not have an expiry date but keeping up to date with changes to policies, procedures and new legislation through ongoing CPD is vital. It is strongly recommended that the learner attends annual refresher training.
A maximum of 16 students can be accommodated on this course and all candidates must be a minimum of 16 years of age to qualify.
